In a video published by TMZ, the always-charming Hugh kept it short and sweet. When asked about his current situation, he simply said, “It’s a difficult time,” and graciously thanked the paparazzi for their thoughts. Class act all the way, folks!
Hugh and Deborra-Lee confirmed their split to People magazine last Friday, expressing how blessed they felt to have spent three incredible decades together. But hey, it’s time for some “individual growth,” and they’re both ready to embark on their own journeys. Power to them!

Our journey now is shifting and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth. Our family has been and always will be our highest priority. We undertake this next chapter with gratitude, love, and kindness. We greatly appreciate your understanding in respecting our privacy as our family navigates this transition in all of our lives.”
They added, “This is the sole statement either of us will make.” (To be fair to Hugh, his comments to TMZ were less of a “statement” and more of a polite answering of questions).
Now, nobody knows the exact reason behind their split, but believe it or not, things seemed pretty peachy between these two lovebirds just a few months ago. In April, Hugh even took to Instagram to share a heartfelt anniversary note to Deborra-Lee, saying, “I love you Deb. Today is our 27th wedding anniversary. 27 YEARS!! I love you so much. Together we have created a beautiful family. And life. Your laughter, your spirit, generosity, humor, cheekiness, courage and loyalty is an incredible gift to me. I love you with all my heart.” Aww, those were the days!
