Jonathan Van Ness on Dax Shepard’s Podcast

Jonathan Van Ness, the fabulous Queer Eye star, recently made an appearance on Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast. And let me tell you, things got more complicated than trying to choose the perfect shade of lipstick!

It all started innocently enough, with Dax asking if the renowned New York Times could be considered “liberal-leaning.” But oh boy, did Jonathan have something to say about that! As a non-binary icon who goes by they/them pronouns, Jonathan disagreed and pointed out that the New York Times has published “anti-trans” content in the past. Cue the heated discussion!

Dax tried to explain that questioning certain topics is necessary, but Jonathan responded with a zinger: “I feel like I’m talking to my dad.” Ouch! It seems like even the fiercest of style gurus can get sassy when defending their beliefs.

But it didn’t stop there! Jonathan went on to talk about the dangers of misinformation and disinformation surrounding the anti-trans backlash. They made it clear that having transphobic thoughts and being transphobic are two different things. Who knew a beauty and fashion expert could drop truth bombs?

In the midst of this heated debate came an apology from Dax. He didn’t intend to start a war of words, just an engaging conversation. He wanted to talk about Jonathan’s podcast, “Getting Curious,” after all. But hey, sometimes the best discussions veer off-course, like when you try to achieve a perfect cat-eye but end up with two completely different wing lengths.

Emotions were running high, and it was about to get emotional. Jonathan, with tears welling up, opened up about how tired they were of fighting for trans rights. They just wanted little kids to be included and accepted. Can we get some applause for this beautiful soul?

And just when we thought things couldn’t get any more heartwarming, Dax reassured Jonathan how much he adored them. He called them hysterical, talented, and applauded their activism. Cue even more tears!

In the end, it seems like all is well between the JVN Hair founder and the podcast host. Dax even took to Instagram to show his love for Jonathan and their episode. He confessed to being a JVN fan since “Gay of Thrones” (who isn’t?), and Jonathan convinced him to buy beard oil and green-tinted moisturizer. Talk about a beauty expert with influence!

So, let’s all band together to support trans rights and inclusivity. After all, who needs fictitious debates about fairness in sports when there are little kids who simply want to feel included? Jonathan is tired, my friends, and for good reason. Let’s make the world a more fabulous place for everyone, one fabulous step at a time.
