Keke Palmer: The Empowering and Difficult Journey of Breastfeeding

Keke Palmer

Once again, the talented and outspoken Keke Palmer is giving moms everywhere a little look into her experiences with motherhood. In a new and absolutely relatable interview with Essence, the superstar singer and actress shares the ups and downs of her breastfeeding journey. And let me tell you, it wasn’t a smooth sail in the mommy sea.

As she opens up about her breastfeeding challenges, Palmer emphasizes that it was both empowering and difficult. She didn’t shy away from sharing how she wanted to give up at many points but kept pushing herself to figure it out. Talk about determination! Even Keke Palmer faced tough moments, but she persevered.

But here’s where it gets interesting – even with all the difficulties, Palmer didn’t let breastfeeding stop her from attending glamorous events like the Met Gala or staying fit. And we all know the fabulous range of activities she embraces. She wanted to show her son that nothing would hinder her from pursuing the things she wanted in life, even breastfeeding. Now that’s what I call one fierce mama!

Met Gala

“The relationship I had with my son during that process empowered me to get back up and do things for myself again,” Palmer proudly stated. “In the midst of trying to work out and do things that I wasn’t sure I was going to be able to do – like going to the Met Gala – I was able to say, ‘You know what, I’m gonna get out there and experience everything again, and I’m still gonna be there for my boy.’”

That kind of resolve didn’t only build confidence and strength in Palmer, but it gave her an overwhelming sense that she can conquer anything. Suddenly, all those things she used to fret about changing didn’t seem so significant anymore. Knowing she is enough for her son reminded her that she’s enough in the world. Talk about a powerful realization!

Palmer welcomed her son with her now-ex (allegedly), Darius Jackson, in February, and since then, she has been refreshingly candid about her journey into motherhood. While embracing her new role as a mom, she’s determined to hold onto her own identity – a message she wants to share with all new moms out there.

In a previous interview with The Cut, Palmer gave some sage advice, saying, “Do you, new moms. Do you. Girl, if there’s one person on this earth that loves you for sure, it’s that baby. Be happy, because there’s no love like it. Somebody loving you like that, hell, who cares?”

And with that, Keke Palmer continues to inspire us with her honesty, strength, and sense of humor. Motherhood may be a challenging journey, but she reminds us that it’s also an empowering one.
