If you ever find yourself riding shotgun with the fabulous Sydney Sweeney, brace yourself for a thrill-ride like no other. This girl is the epitome of cool, calm, and collected, even when navigating the trickiest of trails. Trust me, I know from firsthand experience. In September, I had the privilege of hopping in a Bronco alongside Sydney as she fearlessly maneuvered through an obstacle course. While the rest of our group was still trying to figure out the car’s features, Sydney was already a pro. It probably helped that she has her own killer 1969 Bronco, lovingly restored in a jaw-dropping cherry red finish during the pandemic lockdown. Talk about dedication!
Nothing fazes Sydney when she’s behind the wheel. Not even when her car is at a wild angle, one side nearly suspended in mid-air, or when she’s faced with a treacherously steep hill covered in jagged rocks. And let’s not forget the heart-stopping moments when she had to drive headfirst down cliffs to reach our checkpoint. I asked her how she managed to stay so composed, and she nonchalantly replied, “I’ve never been off-roading before, so naturally it was scary at first. But having a group of badass girls and a female instructor by my side made me feel calm and empowered. It’s like being a superhero on the road.”
Sydney’s foray into off-roading perfectly aligns with her passion for vintage cars. She’s a proud car enthusiast, boasting a whopping 1.6 million followers on her TikTok channel, aptly named “Syd’s Garage.” Her off-roading adventure was part of the incredible experience offered by Bronco Off-Roadeo, which, for the first time ever, is now open to non-Bronco owners in four stunning locations (Las Vegas, Moab, Horseshoe Bay, and New Hampshire). This is a dream come true for all the adventure-seeking souls out there.
After a thrilling day of off-roading with Sydney in Moab, we cozied up by a campfire, munching on s’mores, and delved deeper into her car obsession, future projects for Syd’s Garage, and how she tackles sexism in the male-dominated world of car enthusiasts.

Charting a Phenomenal Journey with Syd’s Garage
Sydney’s Garage started as a humble TikTok account, where she documented her restoration journey and shared entertaining videos. But little did she know that it would transform into a massive project, one that resonates with her fans in the most awe-inspiring way. “I’ve been tagged in TikToks or Instagram posts where people are wearing the overall design I created for Syd’s Garage, standing next to their cars on the side of the road. And let me tell you, that’s just the coolest thing ever,” Sydney enthused during our chat. Her mom always told her not to rely on anyone, and she’s proud to inspire other girls to feel empowered by being able to fix their own cars and change tires.
Curiosity piqued my interest, so I probed further. “What made you start sharing your restoration videos? Was it just for fun?” I asked. To my surprise, Sydney revealed, “I actually started recording and posting videos on TikTok because my parents kept asking me, ‘What are you doing to this car?’ I couldn’t possibly send them videos every time, so I thought, why not show them via links? And well, the response just blew my mind.”
Naysayers Can Keep Their Hate, Sydney Is Unstoppable
While Sydney has inspired countless women to embark on their own car journeys, there have been a few naysayers along the way. But fear not, dear reader, Sydney takes it all in stride. “I’ve always done my own thing. When I see comments like, ‘Oh, she just fixes the mirror,’ or whatever, I just chuckle. I know what I’m capable of, and I’m absolutely okay with others not understanding that. I’ll keep doing my thing and rocking at it,” she proclaimed confidently.
Knowing Sydney’s strength in the face of adversity, I asked if she had any advice for women who encountered sexism in the car hobby. Her response was empowering and uplifting: “My belief is in doing everything you love, regardless of what others think. There are no limits to what we can achieve. Just block out the noise and follow your bliss. Whether it’s working on cars or anything else, let’s do it. Because at the end of the day, our happiness is what matters most.”
Friends by Her Side, Conquering Any Challenge
Sydney’s off-roading experience wouldn’t have been complete without her incredible squad by her side. “I have the most amazing team. They’re like family, my best friends. I want to share this extraordinary life and all these mind-blowing experiences with them. Life is just so much better when you have friends, you know? Recently, they saw me on the trail, nearly upside down, and they were like, ‘Whoa, she really did it!’ It’s pretty cool to have people believe in me.”
Naturally, I was curious about Sydney’s proudest moment with her beloved car. Her response was pure joy: “I find it incredibly fulfilling to see people appreciate vintage vehicles. It’s like witnessing a whole new level of appreciation for art and craftsmanship.”
A sly smile appeared on my face as I asked about any strange encounters with fans. Sydney laughed and replied, “Well, my mom was not pleased when she saw my license plate on the Bronco. It says ‘HEYSYD.’ She thought it wasn’t discreet at all. But hey, everyone knows it’s mine! So, for my next car, I think I’ll go with ‘BYESYD.’ Gotta keep ’em guessing, right?”
When the Road Gets Lonely, Audiobooks Come to the Rescue
Road trips can be both breathtaking and isolating, as Sydney discovered on her recent journey from Idaho to Boston. With only her trusty sidekick, Tank the dog, for company, she craved a bit of intellectual stimulation. “I listened to a ton of audiobooks because I love to read. I had some books I needed to finish, and audiobooks were the perfect way to address my literary cravings. I’m a huge fan of thrillers. Solving mysteries while keeping my brain active—yes, please!”
I couldn’t help but chuckle at the thought of Sydney deeply engrossed in her own world during those long drives. “But wait,” I interjected, “didn’t people think you were talking to them?” Sydney burst out laughing, recalling the curious gazes of passersby. “Oh, absolutely! People driving by must have thought I was talking to them. They probably wondered, ‘Who is this crazy lady having conversations with herself?’ Well, that guy passing by definitely knows now!”
Syd’s Garage Revs Up for the Future
Sydney’s partnership with Bronco has already yielded educational videos and even a clothing line. But what’s next for Syd’s Garage? “I’ve always admired Jay Leno and his amazing garage,” Sydney shared excitedly. “Collecting cars and working on them sounds like a dream. I can’t spill all the juicy details just yet, but we have something incredibly exciting planned. I promise fans will be over the moon when they find out.”
In addition to her future plans, Sydney is also passionate about creating programs that encourage young girls to explore their interest in cars. She envisions opening Syd’s Garage branches in different cities, where girls can work on their cars and receive guidance from experts. “Imagine how amazing that would be!” Sydney exclaimed.
More Off-Roading Adventures Ahead
Our whirlwind off-roading adventure in Moab was undoubtedly exhilarating, but it only scratched the surface. Sydney’s eyes sparkled as she shared, “The full trail is like ten hours long. I want to come back and experience it all! Camping, off-roading, the whole enchilada. I plan to look up more trails and soak up as many off-roading experiences as possible. Because all I want to do is get back out there!”
